四川大学博物馆是中国西南地区建立最早、也是中国第一座综合性大学博物馆，至今已有近110年的历史，也是中国历史最为悠久的博物馆之一。

Nearing its 110th year, Sichuan University Museum is the earliest-established museum in Southwest China, and the first comprehensive university museum and one of the oldest museums in China to still be open today.

经过四年的建设，四川大学博物馆新馆终于开馆了。许多人看完的第一感受：一次根本看不完，展品太多了。有观众留言：成博+省博+自然博=川大博，真的是“海纳百川，有容乃大”！

After four years of construction, the new Sichuan University Museum has finally opened. Many people’s first impression after visiting it is that there are so many exhibits that you can’t see them all in one visit. A viewer even left a comment: Chengdu Museum plus Sichuan Museum and Chengdu Natural History Museum equals Sichuan University Museum, which proves the saying: “The ocean is vast because it is fed by hundreds of rivers”!

百余年来，该博物馆荟萃自然与人文精华，入藏文物涵盖32个门类，其中人文类文物共8万余件，动物标本14万余号，植物标本84万余份。其中尤以书画、陶瓷、美术雕刻以及民族、民俗文物最有特色，如元代黄公望、王蒙合作山水图轴，张大千大风堂敦煌写经、文书集，唐代龙兴寺菩萨立像，全套晚清民国花轿等，以及国家一级重点保护野生动物大熊猫、中华鲟等珍稀濒危和特有动物标本。

For over one hundred years, Sichuan University Museum has collected the cream of nature and culture, and today houses 32 categories of cultural relics, including over 80,000 human cultural relics, more than 140,000 animal specimens, and over 840,000 plant specimens. Among all its exhibits, the most distinctive relics are the paintings and calligraphy, ceramics, sculpture, and national folk cultural relics. In addition, there are also specimens of rare, endangered, and particular animals, for example, giant pandas and Chinese Sturgeons, which are wild animals under first-class major state protection.

自然、考古、民俗、民族、艺术……逛完川大博物馆，关于四川的知识又增加不少，那些概念、习俗、传说，以及脚下的这片土地，都在一件件文物中变得真实可循起来。

Nature, archaeology, folk practices, culturally specific items, and artworks... After returning from Sichuan University Museum, people have acquired a greater knowledge and appreciation of Southwest China, and the concepts, customs, legends, and even the ground beneath people’s feet become more real and traceable thanks to all these relics.
